Soldiers, Policemen Brutalize Students Of ABSU!

Students of Abia State University, ABSU, who were on a peaceful demonstration to protest the planned revocation of the degree awarded former governor of the state, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu by the institution, were molested by soldiers and policemen yesterday.

The students who had converged on the administrative block as early as 7am to prevent a Senate meeting over the matter – which is believed to be the continuation of the persecution of the former governor, were beaten black and blue and whisked away by combined team of soldiers and mobile policemen.
The protest had started in a peaceful manner and within thirty minutes, the team of security operatives stormed the campus, beating every student on sight, including those who were not part of the protest. In the ensuing milieu, students and staff were seen scampering for safety.

Nigerian Gay Church Resume Operations In Lagos

Less than five years after Nigeria-only gay church, House of Rainbow, was attacked by some Lagos residents and consequently closed down in Nigeria, the church has returned to the country with three secret groups in the African most populous nation.

With this development, Nigeria appears to lead other countries where the church currently operates.
Founded by Nigerian-born gay, Rev. Rowland Jide Macaulay, House of Rainbow, which came to Nigeria in 2006, is “an inclusive and affirming religious community open and welcome to all people including s*xual minorities and marginalised people, a monthly gathering of ‘people of faith’ for ‘prayer and praise’, which focuses on the person’s journey towards reconciliation of se*uality and spirituality.”
Macaulay, a trained lawyer and son of a reverend who owns a massive church in Lagos, is leading the comeback even though he remains in self-imposed exile in London, where sources said he currently enjoys lots of financial sponsorship for the movement

A source close to the duo confirms that they (Dbanj and Bankuli) got into an argument which led to a physical fight because Bankulli went to Paris immediately after the koko concert to work with kanye West on his new album to do some adlibs on some songs without telling Dbanj.

Bankuli is also a vocalist and sound creator apart from being an A&R and artiste manager and developer. Bankuli's vocals can be heard on 'Lift Off' featuring Beyonce off the Watch The Throne album.

He was credited for his vocal contribution on the track co-produced by Don Jazzy. He also got additional vocals credit on 'Illest Mothafucka Alive' featured on the same album.

How the next Pope will be chosen

With Pope Benedict XVI leaving the papal office after resigning two weeks ago, the Catholic Church will have to rush to pick his replacement before Easter.

Normally, the College of Cardinals is not allowed to select a new pontiff until 15 to 20 days after the office becomes vacant -- usually when the previous pope has died.

Benedict's resignation is a rare exception. The last man to quit the head of the Catholic Church did so 600 years ago.

The situation calls for some rule bending, and having the current pope involved is proving advantageous.

He has slightly amended the 500-year-old policy on pope selection to get a successor into place more rapidly.

The cardinals may to be able to pull it off before March 15, according to Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi.
